This box was inspired by an unforgettable summer night during a backpacking trip in the High Sierra with my kids. Far from city lights, we slept under the stars and experienced the breathtaking clarity of the night sky. For the first time, they saw the Milky Way Galaxy in all its brilliance. We spent the night marveling at the vastness of space, talking about the universe and creating a lasting memory.

To honor that adventure, over the course of 6 months I designed and built two Galaxy Boxes—one for my family and one for you. The eight sides feature a rugged mountain silhouette of Maple, Mahogany, and Walnut. The lid is topped with a spiral pattern of Rosewood, inlaid with a constellation of brass stars. Inside, two more brass stars act as guides for perfect lid alignment. The interior is lined with durable and soft full-grain cowhide suede. Figured Maple walls complement the lid's underside, which mirrors the top with a spiral of English Sycamore.

Finished with a thin protective polyurethane coat and polished for a smooth, natural feel, this box is built to hold your own keepsakes and memories… as limitless as the night sky.
